About Irineo Miranda:
Born in 1896, Irineo Miranda is hailed as one of the important art icons in the Philippines. He was a teacher at the University of the Philippines with Fernando Amorsolo, Guillermo Tolentino, and Dominador Castañeda. Being part of the same conservative genre in his time, Miranda carved his path in the art scene. His works are theatrical and soon evolved as an acclaimed cartoonist in the Philippines. At that time, cartoonists are rare in the country. He made several Graphic magazine covers and caricature commissions from newspapers and politicians.
He mentored well-known artists and followed his path as a cartoonist and illustrator such as Larry Alcala of the Slice of Life, and Kalabog and Tipin series, Liborio Gatbonton of the Chronicle, Esmeraldo Izon of the Free Press, and Roddy Ragodon of the Sunday Times.
